If so, you could be the Building Manager (Tactical Planner) we are seeking to join our team at our Tonopah, Nevada location!

Our team is looking for a proactive, experienced, and collaborative professional to serve as the Facilities Building Manager for the Sandia site at the Tonopah Test Range (TTR) in Tonopah, Nevada. You will be responsible for the immediate and short-term management of facility needs. This role supports the Facilities Area Manager (FAM) and Facilities Portfolio Manager (FacPM) for all building and customer solutions. In this position, you will be assigned a specific portfolio of space and a customer base for which you are responsible.

At the Sandia National Laboratories, Tonopah location (in Nevada), you may be called on to:

  • Team with all members working with the FAM, Space Tactical Planners, and Strategic Space Planners to develop cross-divisional building management options, recommendations, and solutions to increase space utilization. These solutions may include: consolidations, modifications, reconfigurations, and re-purposing of space, and co-location of organizations and functions.

  • Apply knowledge and experience with building types, design basis of spaces and occupancy in order to conduct scope development studies for laboratory, office, storage and conference rooms.

  • Ensure that HVAC, electrical and communication infrastructure, and physical layout will meet customer needs and expectations.

Project Work:

  • Review projects, facility drawings, floor plans and work with the Computer Aided Drafting and Design team.

  • Update Maximo information database system and related technology applications.

  • Develop the scope and budget, and authorize building modifications; coordinate and oversee the project execution with Facilities Express and contractors.

Construction Work:

  • Review and accept minor construction work including maintenance projects applying your experience in different fields including architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical.

  • Clearly communicate with architects and engineers and negotiate customer requirements and limitations; present a Plan of the Day/Week.

  • Support analyses for Preliminary Real Estate Plans (PREPs), Division Facility and Infrastructure (F&I) Plans, the DOE Facility Information Management System (FIMS), and other plans and studies, as requested.

  • Serve as a liaison between TTR and the main Facilities group located in Albuquerque, NM (Sandia's main site).

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% at the Tonopah Test Range in Nevada.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to work a compressed 3 or 4 day schedule (14hr/14hr/12hr or 4/10hrs) while staying on-range during that time. If the successful candidate lives in the town of Tonopah, then they will not be required to stay on-range.

This position will be eligible for a geographical, 15% differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in a facilities relevant discipline (such as Facility Management, Construction, Business, etc) plus five (5) or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Using CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Software) like an IBM Facilities Management System (i.e. Tririga, Maximo) or similar software systems.

  • MS Office products, particularly EXCEL, and/or database management.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Formal credential in Facilities Management, such as: Facilities Management Professional (FMP, IFMA), Certified Facility Manager (CFM, IFMA), Certificate in Facilities Management (from an accredited institution), Facilities Management Certificate (FMC, BOMI International), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA, BOMI International).

  • Knowledge of Sandia's facility and operational policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting facility management and operations.

  • Ability to exercise initiative as well as the competence to manage and complete multiple priorities.

  • Ability to clearly communicate the status of policies, reports, decisions and work completed.

  • Have a clear understanding of all A/E fields with the ability to develop detailed scopes of work.

The Facilities Area Manager-FAM 4 Department is responsible for facilities in TA-II, TA-IV, TTR and KTF. Our mission is to maintain the buildings and associated systems fit for mission use, as well as to facilitate modifications in support of future mission work. We strive to partner with our customers to respond to building issues and support the needs of the mission.
