What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a R&D Systems Engineering Analyst to join our Infrastructure and Operations team. Our team is part of the broader Nuclear Deterrence (ND) Program Management Offices (PMO) that are responsible for managing NNSA funding that supports Nuclear Deterrence capabilities and programs across Sandia. Specifically, Group 430 has responsibility for managing funding associated with the operation, maintenance, and sustainment of key ND capabilities, facilities, and equipment as well as participating within the NNSA Integrated Planning Group (IPG) to prepare Sandia-specific content for the annual Stockpile Stewardship and Management Plan (SSMP) and collecting and sharing Sandia programmatic equipment needs with the NNSA Programmatic Equipment Recapitalization Working Group (PRWG). We partner closely with other parts of the ND PMO, with Facilities organizations that plan and perform maintenance and other sustainment projects, and with the ND line organizations that implement work within our program.
The Analyst will primarily lead activities supporting the development and release of the NNSA Stockpile Stewardship and Management Plan (SSMP). The SSMP is a high-level document that defines the 25-year Program of Record for Defense Programs based on the Future Years Nuclear Security Program (FYNSP) and is released to Congress annually. The successful candidate will work across the laboratory to collect, validate, and combine annual content as well as represent Sandia at periodic IPG meetings along with the Group 430 Senior Manager. The successful candidate will be expected to review the current internal SSMP legacy process and actively look for opportunities for improvement.
This position offers broad exposure to a diverse range of Nuclear Deterrence work across Sandia. The Analyst may also participate in other aspects of Department 0431 to include the coordination of project updates (data collection and analysis) in support of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements, supporting the 430/431 Management team in crafting rapid responses to requests from NNSA and PMO executive leadership, recognizing common themes of accomplishments, risks, and issues, and generating summary reporting for the I&O Program that is shared internally with Program Office leadership and externally with NNSA.
Qualifications We Require:

About Our Team:
The Weapons Infrastructure Program Office is accountable for the programmatic management of Sandia’s Infrastructure & Operations, Real Property Maintenance, and Programmatic Equipment recapitalization budgets. The office is responsible for Operations of Facilities, Real Property Maintenance, and Recapitalization portfolios under NA-90 as well as Programmatic Equipment Recapitalization efforts within the NA-193 Non-Nuclear Component Modernization (NNCM) and Capability Based Investment (CBI) portfolios. A significant focus within these programs is on supporting Sandia’s Major Environmental Test Facilities (METF), Accelerator Complex (Saturn, HERMES, SPHINX), Reactor Facilities (ACRR), Tonopah Test Range (TTR), Microsystems Engineering Science and Applications (MESA), Primary Standards Laboratory (PSL), and Electrical Sciences (ES) capabilities.

What Your Job Will Be Like:
We seek an experienced engineer to lead the systems engineering (SE) team supporting multi-institutional, large-scale, field-experiments. These experiments support research aimed at enhancing our nation’s capabilities for monitoring underground nuclear explosions anywhere in the world. About Our Team:
The Geophysical Detection Technology R&D department performs geophysical monitoring research and development in support of Sandia's mission as a national security laboratory. The team's geophysics expertise addresses challenges surrounding ground-based nuclear detonation detection through next-generation algorithms exploiting multi-phenomenological data, advanced sensor technologies, and demonstration experiments.
We have a broad range of expertise in field seismology, subsurface characterization, seismo-acoustic and infrasound modeling; evaluation of seismic and infrasound sensors and systems; and the processing, analysis, and interpretation of all types of geophysical data. Technical work spans the spectrum from theoretical to applied and includes strong modeling, lab and field data collection, and analysis capabilities. The department serves as Sandia's resource for ground-based monitoring expertise, partnering with departments across the labs to integrate multiple types of data-including optical, seismic, electromagnetic, infrasound, atmospheric, radionuclide-to address broad national security needs.

We are seeking an R&D Systems Engineer to represent the Post Delivery Support (PDS) Lead, providing technical leadership and coordination for the product realization, Space Vehicle (SV) integration and test, and early-on-orbit operation of the Global Burst Detector (GBD). On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Use technical judgment to monitor, advise and assist with resolution of technical issues on flight hardware and software work.
+ Product realization including build, integration, and test of both SNL and LANL subsystems into a satellite payload system.
+ Support technical and program surveillance for integration of the GBD payload onto the Block IIIF platforms, which include coordination with engineering and program representatives at SV Prime contractor site.
+ Provide the programmatic interface for the NNSA laboratory established at SV Prime contractor site.
+ Support payload integration to the space vehicle and associated SV/GBD test activities and resources.
+ Complete pre-launch processing and early on-orbit testing to ensure performance prior to becoming an operational asset.

About Our Team:
We perform key test and post-delivery activities with a focus on the United States Nuclear Detonation Detection System’s (USNDS) Global Burst Detector (GBD) Space Segment. GBD payloads have a long association with Global Positioning System (GPS) host satellites and contribute to a diverse national capability for the detection of nuclear detonation.
We lead the integration and test (I&T) of GBD hardware in Albuquerque and support the payload I&T at satellite vehicle factories and launch sites. Our space flight function is conducted in unison with ground systems engineering and the mission user community. The department staffs and manages one of the major satellite environmental test facilities: TVAC. The Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) Facility has a comprehensive suite of chambers that simulate the temperatures and high altitudes, of a space environment, characterizing designs and assessing payload space flight survivability.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
