NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$113,500 - $223,500

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to support development of complex systems that enhance U.S. national security missions and assist warfighters! Your work will have impactful results that will continually challenge you and cultivate your creativity. On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Develop and deliver products and services for U.S. government organizations supporting operational capabilities

  • Drive system engineering principles to achieve a successful project while working in a team environment

  • Use your problem-solving skills and technical expertise to take a customer need through to an operational capability by establishing requirements, concept of operations (CONOPS), designs, tests, cost estimates, schedules, project plans and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs)

  • Ensure quality deliverables by creating test plans, supporting demonstrations and exercises, and evaluating and mitigating risks

  • Cultivate collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams including information technology, software development, project management, and operators to guide system development and meet project requirements

  • Partner with other project groups to improve and develop collaborations, capabilities and process which create efficiencies and guide future projects

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM discipline plus 7 years experience, or Master's degree in relevant STEM discipline plus 3 years experience, or equivalent experience in an engineering or scientific field

  • Experience in systems engineering and testing with a focus on software

  • Experience managing software development projects

  • Ability to hold DOE Q and TS/SCI security clearances

  • Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

  • Strong leadership, partnership, and coaching/mentoring skills

  • Strong communication skills and experience providing complex information to all levels of project partners

The Special Programs Department I (8771) is responsible for developing high-impact and high-consequence national security projects supporting a broad range of US government sponsors. Projects revolve around CONOPS creation, traditional Systems Engineering and development of custom software and IT architectures.

While IT architectures and software development are core capabilities, projects span multiple engineering disciplines and have durations ranging from days to years.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
