Sandia National Laboratories Systems Engineer - Data Analysis (Experienced) in Livermore, California

We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer (Job Title: R&D S&E Systems Engineer) to focus on analysis of complex systems supporting national security missions. Your work will have direct impact to our warfighters, increase national security, and have tangible results that will continually challenge you and cultivate your creativity. On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Analyze complex data sets to evaluate system performance and explain anomalous behavior

  • Use core principles and pragmatic approaches in unique ways to create elegant representations of data that highlight correlations and provide insights

  • Develop ways to test and understand the operation of complex capabilities

  • Evaluate operational systems and data flows

  • Evaluate and analyze test data to understand the performance of the device under test

  • Coordinate with IT, networking, and software development teams to understand potential sources of issues and anomalies

  • Coordinate with non-technical partners and help them understand the results and methods of the analysis

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (science, technology, physics, engineering or math) with at least one year of experience; or equivalent

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: data analysis, generating technical documentation, leading system design activities, developing and testing prototype systems, assessing system reliability and performance, operationally fielding and supporting capabilities, software quality assurance or system testing, software development

  • Ability to hold a DOE Q and TS/SCI security clearances

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Advanced degree in engineering or related field

  • Experience working with US intelligence organizations, DOE, DoD, satellite systems, operational support.

  • Strong leadership, partnership and coaching/mentoring skills

The Special Programs Department I (8771) is responsible for developing high-impact and high-consequence national security projects supporting a broad range of US government sponsors. Projects revolve around CONOPS creation, traditional Systems Engineering and development of custom software and IT architectures.

While IT architectures and software development are core capabilities, projects span multiple engineering disciplines and have durations ranging from days to years.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship.
