What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a CMM Programmer/Operator (job title: Mechanical Inspection Technologist) for our Livermore, CA site.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Collect, organize, document, and communicate inspection results

  • Analyze the inspection data by applying problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Support in-process inspection for internal manufacturing efforts

  • Program and operate a CMM using CAD/CAM in support of engineered designs

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High school diploma plus three or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience programming and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience using PC-DMIS or Zeiss CALYPSO or CMM-MANAGER, or other CMM software

  • Possess a sound basic understanding of models-based machining and manufacturing processes

  • Knowledge and experience, specific to model-based inspection techniques

  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) as per ASME Y14.5

  • Ability to work well in a diverse team environment

  • Strong communication skills

About Our Team:

This department is in place for the research and development of prototype manufactured hardware components made on industry-standard milling machines, lathes, wire EDM, plunge EDM, grinders, and saws. Hardware is typically made from a variety of industry-standard inert metals, polymers, and composites materials. In rare cases, hazardous materials will be handled with guidance from industrial hygiene and waste management with controls in place. Our mission is to provide an R to D to A (Research to Development to Application) support capability for our customers through excellence in science-based engineering and manufacturing technologies. Our capabilities are aligned with Sandia's Strategic Business and Management units and focus on the engineering needs of Sandia's National Security Mission.
