We are seeking a R&D, Electrical Engineer in the Advanced Systems Engineering and Deployment Department.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Work with national security mission partners to design, prototype, and test a variety of analog and digital electronic and electrical components and systems.

Required:

  • Bachelor's in STEM;
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering plus four year's of relevant work experience;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Desired:

  • Experience with either analog or digital systems;
  • Experience with requirements driven design;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams;
  • Knowledge of national laboratory environmental, safety, and health practices;
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.

Department Description:

The Advanced Systems Engineering and Deployment Department (8645) is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying engineered solutions to fundamental national security challenges in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. The department is a multi-disciplinary organization comprised primarily of mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineers engaging in science-based engineering and component development to support a broad range of research and development activities. The projects within 8125 often involve teaming with other groups with expertise in molecular biology, synthetic chemistry, radiation physics, and nuclear weapons to develop prototypes and impact how researchers study fundamental phenomena or turn basic scientific understanding into functional capabilities. Principal sponsors for the efforts led by the department include the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense, and Energy; and various other federal, state and local agencies.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
