Sandia National Laboratories Mk21 Fuze Project Manager Lead (Experienced) in Livermore, California

We are seeking a Project Manager. This Project Manager will be in the lead role for the Mk21 Fuze Strategic Partnerships Program (SPP). The PM will partner closely with the System Engineering Leads across the program, the Air Force, as well as management and leads at other sites.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Provide integration across the various control accounts and PRTs and provide leadership and integration among the programmatic team

  • Coordinate and engage with the Air Force, the Sandia Field Office, and the ND PMO.

  • Lead strategic improvement initiatives within the team that benefit the mission.

  • Be responsible for ensuring successful execution of milestones & deliverables across the program.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other relevant field plus five or more years of experience in project management or Project Manager role; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with standard project management practices for technical work, such as project plan development and control, risk management, requirements management, project staffing, scope management, project scheduling, cost estimation and management, quality assurance, communications planning and management, and procurement management.

  • Proficiency in tools and applications commonly employed in project management activities.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q security clearance.


  • Active Q or Top Secret clearance.

  • Ability to collaborate with management at all levels.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience working on a Nuclear Deterrence, Life Extension Program

  • Experience working with the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, or the Department of Defense.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).

  • Experience working nuclear weapon programs/projects at the system and component levels.

  • Project management education and/or current PMP certification(s).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving substantial resources ($75M/year or greater).

    Department Description:

The ND Mission Partners organization at Sandia California site provides project management for multiple Nuclear Deterrence programs. Together, we execute the project management responsibilities for the modernization and stockpile Nuclear Weapons Programs. The Nuclear Weapons Programs are responsible for assuring the safety, reliability and security of U.S. nuclear weapons, enabling the defense of our nation through our nuclear strategic deterrent. These departments are also an integral part of the Division 8000 Nuclear Deterrence (ND) Project Management Office (PMO).

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
