NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$135,100 - $229,500
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are actively seeking a highly motivated and hardworking Engineer or Architect with leadership and team-oriented management experience to oversee the growth, development, and delivery of our in-house professional architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) services.
Technical expertise within the field of Facilities Management is essential, in addition to coaching, mentoring and development of people within the construction, architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering fields. You will work with discipline and business line leadership to develop and lead a dedicated AEC team. The manager will be expected to act as a trusted source for technical reviews, conceptual designs, client interfaces, and oversee compliance with regulatory and company standards, regulations, and quality assurance programs.
This position will report to the Livermore, California site and is conducive to some teleworking. Flexible work arrangements including 9/80 and 4/10 are also available.
On any given day, you will be called on to:
Provide technical leadership and is considered a fully capable professional in their field
Build construction and operations capabilities including hiring a Team Lead to manage construction craft workers
Make decisions independently or as part of a team on technical problems and methods and represents the organization
Resolve important questions and plans and coordinates work
Supervise and give guidance on overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters
Respond to direction on unusual conditions and developments
Plan design work, calculate costs, and time schedules to assign design duties to junior staff working on projects
Act as an adviser and review correspondences prepared by junior project team members
Evaluate project staffing requirements, analyze problems, and communicate staffing needs
Perform project quality control checking
Build and lead successful project and program management teams
Manage and direct professional and technical staff to complete architectural and engineering projects
Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the preparation of work plans and organize project studies
Perform complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team
Conduct reviews and provide staff feedback for continued improvement
Oversee and develop technical approaches and cost estimates for proposals
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural, or Architecture) plus eight or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
Five or more years of direct design experience
Five or more years in Facilities, including some combination of project management, building operations, strategic planning, maintenance, or construction management
Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Licensed as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect
Experience managing direct reports
Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences
Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills
Ability to work in fast-paced environment and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
Knowledge of safety related programs: OSHA 1926 and 10 CFR 851
