We are seeking highly motivated Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Professionals (job title: Environment, Safety, and Health Coordinator) to join our team. You will play a key role to help build a strong and healthy safety culture at the Labs. You will be responsible for supporting our research and development operations.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Support and facilitate ES&H requirements, with a strong focus on customer service and partnering with line management and staff

  • Develop processes and assist in the identification and analysis of hazards and risks which may result in unsafe work conditions

  • Develop, implement and communicate organization specific ES&H policies, processes, hazard controls and tools to help staff and management meet performance expectations

  • Document and report staff and management concerns, findings, non-compliance issues and significant information in corporate data systems and through appropriate management channels

  • Provide support during ES&H audits and assessments and readiness reviews

    Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, math, technology, or other relevant field plus five or more years of experience applying ES&H standards in research and development or engineering/construction environments; or equivalent experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance.

    Desired:

  • Master’s degree in STEM or other relevant field; or ASP/CSP certification

  • Strong knowledge or training in worker safety and health programs and hazard analysis

  • Hands-on experience with chemical and engineering laboratory practices

  • Solid understanding of applicable OSHA, NEPA, and DOE regulations

  • Knowledge and experience in performing occupational health, safety, and environmental management related assessments and the development of corrective actions, particularly in a research and development setting

  • Proven understanding of industrial safety standards, equipment and practices, including safety practices associated with laser systems, pressure safety, hazardous materials and electrical safety

  • Strong customer focus and ability to work well in a team focused environment.

  • Experience in applying quality tools (e.g. Lean methodology, Six Sigma).

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook; familiar with Project, SharePoint, Visio, and Word.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance

  • Active DOE L or Q clearance

    Department Description:

The Department provides Occupational Health and Safety Engineering support services to the SNL/CA site and personnel. Support includes: ES&H Coordinators, Facilities ES&H Inspectors, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
