NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$100,900 - $195,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
Our department is seeking electrical engineers (R&D Electronic Engineer) to join multidisciplinary teams that are designing and developing advanced electronic systems. Qualified engineers will be asked to employ state-of-the-art technology to develop a variety of high-reliability electronic subsystems. Skills important to our design and development work in these areas include embedded-system design skills with experience in FPGA and/or microcontroller design, analog- and digital-circuit design, RF communications, DSP, or power supply design.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Create the system design
Implement design methodology
Build the prototype
Ground-test the system
Support the actual full-up system test
Successful candidates will have opportunities to grow and mature into significant responsibility.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline must be conferred prior to start date or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in digital or analog design and or FPGA/ASIC design
Experience with VHDL language
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Master's degree in a relevant STEM discipline
FPGA design or verification experience
Embedded System Design experience
Analog Circuit Design experience

Department 8421 designs, tests, and deploys advanced electronic systems for various national security applications. The department has a broad mix of skills and technical resources in areas such as digital communications, sensors, radio frequency (RF)/microwave, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) design, power supply technology, general electronics-circuit design, digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and coding, mechanical design and analysis, and systems engineering.
