What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a hardworking and motivated Systems Engineer to join the Mk21 Fuze Modernization program. This position will require the ability to balance a variety of roles and responsibilities as the Mk21 Fuze ramps up production at KCNSC with a focus in the areas of systems production engineering, sustainment, development engineering activities associated with the Air Force Sentinel Missile program.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Participate in integration and production support activities with the Weapons System Integration (WSI), Sentinel Fuze delta-qualification team, Product Realization Teams at SNL and Kansas City "National Security Campus (KCNSC)

  • Conduct system test planning, test execution, and analysis activities.

  • Participate in production anomaly and Significant Finding Investigations

  • Define requirements, develop, build, and test hardware and software for Sentinel/Mk21 Fuze ground and flight test integration activities.

  • Represent Sandia in various forums internally and externally.

  • Provide technical consultancy on critical design elements.

  • Develop and/or present material for program reviews, sponsor and customer meetings.

  • Provide analysis support for technical requirements revisions.

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Livermore, CA. Some travel may be required for this position.

Salary Range:

$113,600 - $221,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a relevant STEM field; OR equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Academic or job experience in areas such as: engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Tools/Programs: C/C++, SPICE, LTSpice, MATLAB, LabVIEW, ModelSim, HDL, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzers

  • Familiarity with computational simulation and modeling tools and/or computer aided design tools - Creo/ProE, SolidWorks, etc.

  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with internal organizations and external production facilities and suppliers.

  • Familiarity with development of specifications for components and systems.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management.

  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling.

  • Experience in a leadership role.

  • Knowledge and/or experience of system engineering concepts and principles.

  • Active DOE Q-Level security clearance or equivalent (DOD Top Secret).

About Our Team:

Mk21 Fuze Systems is responsible for providing a replacement fuze for the Mk21 Reentry Vehicle. Fuze Systems provides overall program management authority for the USAF funded Strategic Partnership Program and serves as the primary interface to the USAF customer. The systems team is comprised of a multidisciplinary set of engineers and program managers who work closely with organizations within Sandia, the National Security Enterprise, and the USAF.
