NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a motivated individual to join the W80-4 Systems Program Management team as a DOORS Database Manager (job title: General Technologist). The DOORS Database Manager will assist in managing and tracking nuclear weapons technical and programmatic requirements using IBM Rational DOORS (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System) software. This tool has gained wide use across Sandia National Laboratories as the preferred requirements management application for nuclear weapon projects for the duration of the lifecycle.

This position, based upon skills and desire, can range from data entry and manipulation to creating custom reports and providing guidance on database architecture. Training and mentoring will be available, and the selected candidate will be an integral member of the requirements team.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Create guides and training to support DOORS users.

  • Be an active member of the corporate DOORS Users Group and Requirements Working Group.

  • Work closely with systems engineers and other R&D staff on a frequent basis.

  • Partner with other database technologists.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus three or more years of directly related experience in Nuclear Deterrence programs and/or database support

  • Experience with common office software, such as Microsoft Office

  • Active Q or Top Secret security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with science and engineering technical management and staff

  • Demonstrated teaming skills, including the ability to work with other organizations, project sponsors, stakeholders, customers, and suppliers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Proficient skills with MS Office Suite

  • Knowledge of the Nuclear Weapons complex and product realization process

  • Experience collaborating with the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, or Department of Defense

  • Experience working with the IBM Rational DOORS database or relational databases

  • General knowledge of systems engineering processes and terminology and project management processes and terminology

  • Experience analyzing engineering data and developing customized reports to summarize engineering data

  • Experience implementing procedures and training other staff

  • Experience with classified information and working on classified networks

  • Excellent technical writing and desktop publishing skills

About Our Team:

The W80-4 Project Management department is responsible for providing Science & Engineering (S&E) Project Management support to the W80-4 Life Extension Program (LEP) system team at the Sandia National Laboratories. The department is also an integral part of the Division 8000 Nuclear Weapons (NW) Project Management Office (PMO). The NW Programs are responsible for assuring the safety, reliability and security of U.S. nuclear weapons, enabling the defense of our nation through our nuclear strategic deterrent.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
