NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$88,600 - $172,300

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Systems Engineers contribute in the following ways:

  • Assist with system-level design architecture and analysis that combines component parts and subsystems into a complete functional system

  • Participate in test planning to verify requirements and qualify hardware

  • Collaborate on maturation of requirements for specific areas or components

  • Participate in integration activities with other systems engineers and product realization teams

  • Provide technical consultations on critical design elements

  • Prepare for presentations at technical design reviews

  • Conduct or assist with cost account management

  • Represent Sandia on multi-organizational project teams

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or relevant STEM discipline; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

  • Academic or job experiences in areas such as: engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Active U.S. DOE Q-level clearance, or equivalent DOD Top Secret level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience working on systems or component requirements, design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects

  • Familiarity with engineering tools and languages such as PSpice, Cadence/OrCAD, DxDesigner, MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++ and Python

  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling

  • Ability to team well with others and listen to different perspectives

About Our Team:

The W80-4 NM Systems Engineering Team partners with Groups 8240 and 8260 at SNL/CA on W80-4 program scope. This organization supports the ND Weapon Systems Engineering Centers, which are responsible for assuring the safety, reliability and security of US nuclear weapons enabling the defense of our nation through our nuclear strategic deterrent. The organization is comprised of a group of dedicated and motivated technologists and engineers, primarily in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Systems Engineering. The W80-4 program is currently entering into Phase 6.4, Production Engineering.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
