What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a highly motivated IT Solutions Architect/ Network Engineer to join a diverse team, responsible for project management, development, system integration, and testing of satellite ground systems for space missions. We provide flexible approaches to product definition, realization, and testing to achieve system quality and security compliance. On any given day, you may be called on to:
Design and implement complex mission system network architecture.
Maintains operation of mission network communication systems.
Work with a variety of technologies to address unique, one-of-a-kind problem sets.
Develop system and network installation, testing, and troubleshooting procedures.
Interface with the customer to define network communications and platform requirements.
Analyze and document network communications requirements.
Design and implement networking solutions to provide a secure, efficient network that will meet mission needs.
Research, analyze, and evaluate new system and network technologies and evaluate for potential enhancements to improve performance and reliability.
Perform regular system and network performance monitoring.
Troubleshoot system and network issues, identify network problems, isolate root causes, and initiate corrective action.
Plan and coordinate installation and configuration of network communication and hardware components.
Maintain security compliance.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
Qualifications We Require:
Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or relevant discipline plus one year of experience or bachelor’s degree in stated fields plus three years of directly related experience.
Experience with Linux.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-Level clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
Experience in Splunk or similar technologies.
Experience with Ansible Automation Platform.
Experience with Virtualization.
Working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and encryptions.
Experience with Cisco networking equipment.
Experience with Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA) and Network Access Control List (ACL).
Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Wireshark.
Familiarity with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
Active DOE Q or TS.
About Our Team:
The Space Ground Systems Programs leads the design, development, and delivery of the operational ground segment of the United States Nuclear Detonation Detection System (USNDS). USNDS is a space-based remote sensing system designed to meet national security needs for both the warfighter and the treaty monitoring community. The team provides leadership and advanced technical solutions throughout the life cycle of these systems, from inception of new systems to enhancing capability in currently operational systems.

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
