We are seeking a User Experience Researcher to focus on furthering our organization's efforts in developing user experience solutions and providing user experience research and development across Sandia! In this R&D S&E Computer Science (Limited Term Employee) role, you will plan, research, design, and evaluate user experiences for enterprise and mission systems. This position will be responsible for conducting user research and implementing iterative design for a wide range of software products and services.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Plan and conduct research on multiple aspects of products and experiences.
Apply user centered design methodology to develop usable software products and services.
Translate user research findings into design recommendations.
Create wireframes and prototypes to communicate design ideas.
Collaborate with user interface designers and developers to create high quality software products.
Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations.
Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User/Human Centered Design, User Experience Design, or relevant discipline plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience with a wide variety of usability methods, including contextual design, user interviews, heuristic evaluations, surveys, usability testing etc.
Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE L-level security clearance.
Experience creating UX Artifacts such as Personas and Journey Maps.
Experience working on development teams using agile methodologies.
Ability to collaborate with effective written and verbal communication skills within an interdisciplinary research environment.
Knowledge of visual design principles, information architecture, and style guides/template creation.
Experience in developing and building Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and User Experience capabilities across an organization.
Desire to educate or coach others on User Centered Design Methodology.
The User Experience (UX) Solutions department helps teams develop well-designed solutions by placing the end user at the center of the design process. User interface web services - development developing common user interface components. Software development - utilizing our team of project managers, requirements engineers, user researchers, user interface designers, and software developers to build a custom software application.
