We are seeking a highly motivated person who is passionate about ES&H operations and management systems to join our dynamic ES&H Operations and Systems team as a project member of our ES&H Integrated Enterprise Laboratories Data (ESHield) platform initiative. ESHield is a digital transformation initiative to modernize, reduce and consolidate ES&H information technology (IT) applications. The position requires information technology (IT) project involvement supporting the development, maintenance, and maturity of high-quality ES&H applications that ensures alignment with the Sandia ES&H management system attributes. The position provides the opportunity to collaborate labs wide with users and partners for successful integration opportunities. Collaboration efforts will entail gaining an understanding and knowledge of how information technology applications and processes are applied in a wide variety of Sandia research and development technology efforts and projects that will enhance labs wide ES&H culture.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Use structured systems approach that improves processes and adapts lean tools to ensure integration.
Participate or lead multi-functional teams to facilitate solution implementation and improvements aligned to mission and strategic objectives.
Participate in or facilitate structured improvement activities and lessons learned forums and integrate outcomes with the application/management system.
Document compliance obligations and requirements and evaluate competing characteristics between system elements and determine the most effective, integrated system solution.
Analyze system functionality and subsystem contribution to system function, ensuring that system obligations and requirements are met.
Collaborate with partners and users’ labs wide to ensure effective implementation and integration of ES&H processes and applications with research and development efforts and projects.
Use common office software and proprietary software to compile and generate reports, statistics, timelines, tables, and graphs to support leadership in making data-driven decisions.
Develop and implement effective processes to support ES&H applications.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
One to five, or more, years of experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job.
Knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following areas:
ES&H requirements, regulations, and operations
management systems
process analysis
corporate-level information technology programs
project planning
or quality assurance principles
The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience interpreting, applying, integrating, and flowing down requirements into procedures, information technology platforms or management systems.
Knowledge of and experience in developing IT solutions.
Active L or Q Security Clearance; or other Active DOE/DOD clearance.
Experience as Six Sigma Green or Black belt.
Demonstrated success organizing, prioritizing, and following through to complete multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities.
Strong organizational, team building, facilitation, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Ability to work independently and within a teaming environment.
About Our Team:
The ES&H Operations and Systems organization is leading efforts in maturing the ES&H management system, ensuring integration into the Laboratories’ strategic approach and consistent deployment across the Sandia enterprise using a robust ES&H data management platform for collecting, monitoring, and measuring ES&H information.
Posting Duration:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
