NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are currently looking for an electromechanical test and fabrication technologist to join our team supporting the design and development of nuclear weapon systems. This opening provides an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated individual with an electrical and/or fabrication background to make significant contributions to Sandia by working on a Tier 1 priority program.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Assemble and fabricate tester hardware such as cables, interchangeable test adapters (ITAs), and tester cores.

  • Checkout and calibrate system-level development testers.

  • Operate automated test equipment and support tester development and maintenance.

  • Execute system-level electrical and functional tests.

  • Assemble/dissemble test setups and handle classified hardware.

  • Conduct electrical benchtop troubleshooting.

  • Maintain a safe and secure laboratory while conducting electrical testing operations.

  • Cross-train on multiple nuclear weapons systems in development.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Requires an associate degree plus (1) or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Active Q clearance with the ability and desire to obtain a Sigma 15 caveat.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Certified IPC Specialist with IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and J-STD-001

  • Experience with system fabrication and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in assembly, integration, test, and troubleshooting of electromechanical assemblies at the system and/or component levels.

  • Experience with schematic and electrical drawing interpretations.

  • Experience with sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition equipment.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

About Our Team:

The ND Systems Electrical Test Department (02332) performs electrical and functional testing, at the system-level, to support Sandia’s major ND modernization programs. Additionally, our team is responsible for the design, development, and manufacture of system-level development testers used for system-level functional testing. Our department is responsible for all electrical and functional system-level testing on the W80-4, Mk21, W87-1, and B61-12 programs. The department maintains and operates multiple laboratories across SNL and interacts extensively with the design, environmental testing, and qualification teams of major ND modernization programs.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
