NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$101,400 - $201,400 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

We are seeking a Solutions Architect to join the Integrated Technical Systems team. We are a "mission focused" organization and provide critical support to a wide variety of organizations and agencies. On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Provide real-time support to critical activities impacting our nation.

  • Design, implement and sustain complex network systems across multiple domains.

  • Maintain security compliance and overall availability of our dedicated mission support CVTCs.

  • Coordinate with external agencies to maintain and troubleshoot system and network needs and requirements.

  • Participate in cross-system collaboration to define interfaces between systems.

  • Research, architect, and design solutions for effective operation of mission enabling or direct mission information systems.

  • Develop strategic solutions that reduce future life-cycle costs and position Sandia for future mission work.

    This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant STEM field plus 5 years' experience; Or equivalent (Associates Degree + 9 years or no degree plus 13)

  • Experience with complex network troubleshooting.

  • Experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) classified networks, systems and requirements (including CNET and CLAN).

  • Experience with media conversion and VTC codecs.

  • Experience with Confluence, SharePoint and Word Perfect for Website Development and Maintenance.

  • Experience installing and maintaining Real Presence Desktops (RPD).

  • An active US DOE Q security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Self-directed and customer focused.

  • Experience determining system status, diagnosing problems, and returning the system to operational capability.

  • Experience with production servers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate issues to a broad spectrum of interested parties.

  • Solid teaming and analytical skills.

  • Computer hardware and software operations, troubleshooting and maintenance of computer systems.

  • Computer hardware, software, networks, and Linux operating system.

  • Technical communication experience, especially experience working with a geographically distributed team and customers .

The Center 5400 Integrated Technical Systems Department, 5473, is divided into two components. Org. 5473, employs a wide variety of technical staff and technologists that provide technical support in the areas of Mission Assurance; Security; and ES&H, including Work Planning and Control; corporate compliance; and laboratory integration. Org, 5473-2, Technical Program Support Team, operates a laboratory complex that provides hardware definition, assembly, ground test, instrumentation, and characterization. Department 5473 supports programs in the Integrated Military Systems Center.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
