What Your Job Will Be Like:
Organization 05244, MESA III-V, Hetero-Integration, is seeking an experienced Microelectronics Equipment Technologist that develops, builds, modifies, repairs, and maintains microelectronic semiconductor tools, instruments, systems, and processes, in the functional areas of Metals and Diffusion within Sandia National Laboratories' MESA MicroFab facility.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Construct, fix, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems.
Develop, evaluate, and work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
Analyze data and recommend modifications to components or test procedures to meet desired specifications.
Handle equipment support contracts and supervise the work of vendor equipment support personnel.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$72,800 - $140,600
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
Associate’s degree in relevant STEM field plus one (1) or more years directly related experience in maintaining fabrication or test equipment or;
Five (5) years’ experience in maintaining fabrication or test equipment
The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM field
Basic electro-mechanical, thermal, and high-vacuum system maintenance and troubleshooting experience on semi-conductor fabrication equipment
General understanding of electronics theory, principles, and design
Broad knowledge with plasma, high voltage, and gas systems
Working knowledge of safety requirements relevant to semiconductor equipment work (e.g. lock out tag out, pressure and electrical safety, chemical / gas safety)
Basic experience authoring and/or revising activity-level work documents
Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Software Programs
Strong communicator with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and proficient in efficiently organizing competing priorities
Active DOE L-level security clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Secret
About Our Team:
Sandia National Laboratories Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) complex provides unique processing capability in semiconductor microfabrication. The MESAFab Operations departments develop and maintain core semiconductor processing capabilities and capacity that enable our customers to build differentiating Microsystems products. Two unique facilities are co-located within the 65,000 square foot MESAFab complex including:
• 12,000 square foot Class 1 Silicon Fab for 6-inch silicon wafer processing• 15,000 square foot Class 10 and Class 100 MicroFab for compound semiconductor material processing and silicon wafer post-processing
Key microfabrication processing areas include photolithography, reactive ion etch, wet etch/clean, oxidation and diffusion, thin films, CMP (planarization), ion implantation, metrology, deep reactive silicon ion etch, wafer bonding and thinning, electroplating, packaging, MEMS release, yield learning and statistical process control.
