What Your Job Will Be Like:
Our team is looking for a highly motivated Electronics Technologist to support fabrication of system-level functional electrical testers for the W80-4 and W93 programs. The selected individual will be part of a team charged with completing upgrades to W80-4 Testers and developing the W93 Testers. There will also be an expectation to operate these testers for weapon development and qualification efforts. This opening provides an excellent opportunity to make significant contributions to Sandia by working on multiple high-visibility ND programs.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Fabricate or modify tester and cable components.
Assist in tester troubleshooting.
Operate testers and electrical equipment.
Collaborate with Tester Engineers and Testing Engineers.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Some travel may be required for this position.
Salary Range:
$70,200 - $135,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
Associate’s degree in a STEM field; OR High School Diploma, plus three (3) years of directly related experience.
Active DOE Q-level security clearance (or DOD equivalent), with the ability to obtain and maintain Sigma 15 access, which includes random polygraphs.
Experience fabricating testers, cables, or printed wire assemblies.
Experience with electrical circuits and diagrams.
Qualifications We Desire:
IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-620 Certification.
Experience with sensors, instrumentation, or data acquisition equipment.
Experience with nuclear weapon design, development, qualification, or production.
Experience fabricating, assembling, and troubleshooting testers or electromechanical assemblies at the system and/or component levels.
Experience working with classified and hazardous materials/hardware.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
About Our Team:
The Systems Electrical Test and Fabrication Team (023321) fabricates development testers and operates those testers to perform system-level functional electrical testing to support major ND Modernization efforts. Our department is responsible for all functional electrical system-level testing on the W80-4, W87-1, W93 and Mk21programs. The department maintains and operates multiple laboratories across SNL and interacts extensively with the design, environmental testing, and qualification teams of major ND modernization programs.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
