Sandia National Laboratories Safety Engineering Technologist (Experienced) in Albuquerque, New Mexico

On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Perform assessments of a wide variety of electrical work practices from R&D laboratory work to field testing to production work.
- Identify problems and identify potential control strategies to mitigate or control risks.
- Perform technical electrical safety assessments.
- Collaborate with other highly-trained professionals across the occupational safety and health diciplines and line management to ensure proper work hazards evaluation and control.
- Associate's degree in safety engineering, related technology field or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of relevant work experience in electrical safety or electrical/electronic-related field.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, related technology field, or equivalent experience.
- Active DOE/DOD security clearance.
- ASP/CSP certification.
- Experience as a licensed electrician.
- Ability to work effectively with others in a teaming environment under minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge in the following areas: electrical safety, explosive safety, hazardous energy control (lockout tagout), pressure safety, construction safety, firearms safety, traffic safety and aviation safety.
- Experience performing safety training including OSHA 10 and 30 Hour courses.
- Understanding of DOE orders/codes/standards.
The Safety and Health Engineering provides the tools and expertise necessary to evaluate and control occupational hazards that may occur during work, while also ensuring SNL meets contractual and promulgated worker safety and health requirements. Safety and Health Engineering is responsible for a diverse set of occupational safety and health programs that includes Pressure Safety, Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Laser Safety, Respiratory Protection, Chemical Safety and Hearing Conservation along with many others.
