NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$75,900 - $172,300

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Safety Engineer to join our team.

Each year thousands of students complete compliance training at the Sandia Safety Engineering Training Facility. Courses taught at the facility under the prevue of this position include forklift (conventional mast, telehandler, and rough terrain), fall prevention and protection, scissor lift, boom lift, and crane, hoist and rigging. Courses may be added to meet customer needs. Additional courses taught at the facility include respiratory protection, confined spaces, explosives safety, slip simulator, lockout/tagout, and others.

As the Industrial Safety Training Specialist, you will serve as the lead for the Safety Engineering Training Center. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing the instruction of these courses, instructing a large percentage of these courses, working with the program leads and subject matter experts (SMEs) in the development and update of training content, and providing day-to-day operational checks of equipment to verify readiness for class.

You may also be tasked with bringing new training support up to speed, providing support of Line and Facilities customers with equipment inspections, development of specialized course content, instruction at a requested location including potential travel to remote locations such as Nevada, California, Kauai, Texas, and other locations.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and (5) years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Applicable work experience in the area of industrial safety

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.Must be willing to travel

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Ability to work independently

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)

  • 3 years minimum experience in program management or related area

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of and experience implementing OSHA 1910/1926 related training for industrial safety related programs

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of and experience implementing ASME/ANSI standards related training for industrial safety related programs

  • Knowledge of DOE technical standards

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management)

  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify process improvement need from data, and implement process improvement changes.

Security Clearance:
