Sandia National Laboratories R&D Systems Integration Engineer - Production (Early/Mid-Career) in Albuquerque, New Mexico

We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Systems Integration Engineer to lead department efforts to support production of the W88 Alt 370 and W88 Alt 940. The position is resident at Sandia National Labatories (SNL), New Mexico and will require moderate travel to the production agencies to meet with customers, stakeholders and partners.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Team with the Alt 370/940 Production PRT Lead, resident at the Tri-Lab at Pantex.
Track and support components and hardware being shipped between production agencies.
Be the main point of contact to needs identified by the Production PRT Lead and System level counterparts at the production agencies.
Update requirement documents as needed.
Collaborate with production agencies and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) counterparts on any necessary updates to production procedures.
Support inter-site logistics planning and actions to ensure production agencies are prepared for first production units and rate production.
Provide status briefings to Federal stakeholders as needed and to formal management reviews.
Team with counterparts at LANL to ensure high production readiness levels and effective problem solving.
Update SNL management on production and First Production Unit status.
Provide system expertise and any necessary engineering authorizations to minimize impact of production.
Collect and document lessons learned during production.
This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% to meet with customers, stakeholders and partners.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
Four years of relevant experience.
Active DOE Q-level security clearance.
Understanding of production agency safety basis processes and how design agencies support the safety basis.
Experience applying continuous improvement.
Demonstrated high performance in one or more Nuclear Deterrence technical mission areas.
Demonstrated teaming skills.
The W76-0/W88 Stockpile Systems Engineering team supports the nuclear deterrence mission through annual assessment of the systems’ safety and reliability and providing design agency engineering support for the production agencies. This department partners with organizations across the Laboratory – including other system groups, stockpile surveillance, materials research, science and engineering, and computation modeling and simulation – to design and execute aging, reliability, and safety studies. In addition, this department partners with external stakeholders, including the National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Defense and its contractors, Los Alamos National Laboratory, as well as the Kansas City National Security Campus and Pantex production plants, to ensure the continued success of the W76-0/Mk4 and W88/Mk5 missions.

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
