NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

Salary Range:

$118,500 - $201,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated R&D S&E, Systems Engineer to support the 07232 ND Configuration Management Department as a Product Manager of the Product Realization Integrated Digital Enterprise (PRIDE) Modernization Value Stream. In this position, you will be focused on understanding ND business needs, determining solutions with stakeholders, and providing related requirements to multiple cross site IT teams to meet the needs of weapon modernization programs. This could include elements of product data management (PDM), model based systems engineering (MBSE), model based definition (MBD), requirements management, and engineering authorization (EA) streamlining. This will be a very influential role in determining the IT solutions and capabilities that will be used across the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). The selected applicant will apply coordinated technical judgment to balance tactical needs of modernization programs with strategic objectives of PRIDE. This person will partner with personnel throughout the NSE and across the Digital Engineering Ecosystem.

On any given day the selected candidate may be called upon to:

  • Create and promote a shared vision, strategy, and roadmap for the PRIDE Modernization Agile Release Train (ART). Includes managing tactical and strategic roadmaps for developing capabilities to support immediate needs and enable the future vision

  • Understand customer and business needs to identify solutions and work with ART to implement solutions. Includes working with IT infrastructure teams to ensure constraints and existing capabilities are identified

  • Build and maintain product roadmaps based on delivery milestones of the ND modernization programs and ensure coordination with all stakeholders to ensure syncing of cross organization activities

  • Lead continuous planning activities to determine needed capacity, dependencies, stakeholder input to plan future team activities

  • Collaborate with modernization program stakeholders, technical SMEs, architects, and other product owners/managers to streamline approaches and architecture and design objectives for new system development efforts

  • Coordinate and organize technical teams to ensure sponsor needs are met through careful planning and execution across a variety of disciplines

  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure that identified solutions meet stakeholder needs and demonstrate progress throughout development

  • Lead design and gate review preparation activities to demonstrate readiness to proceed forward

  • Recommend project opportunities and risks to PRIDE leadership

  • Independently develop proposals to pursue innovation opportunities and broaden critical opportunities

  • This position requires periodic travel

Qualifications We Require:

  • You possess an Advanced (Master’s or PhD) degree in relevant science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field (e.g. Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering) OR a Bachelor’s in STEM and four years of relevant experience

  • You have a strong, demonstrated foundation in product realization (e.g., your experience includes two or more years’ experience as a technical Lead and/or Project Lead for technical projects)

  • DOE Q Security Clearance (or DOD equivalent)

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience advocating and training a large population of teammates in product data management applications and processes.

  • CMII, ISO, PMBOK, INCOSE, Scrum/Agile, ASPE, APICS certifications

  • Experience as a product owner, or product manager in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Team

  • Working knowledge of MCAD, ECAD, and/or ERP systems (e.g. CREO, Solidworks, Mentor Graphics, PDMLink, Team Center, Oracle Mfg., ARAS Innovator, etc.)

  • Experience establishing and operating engineering change management processes (e.g. impact analyses, engineering review boards, etc.)

  • Desire to learn new skills as required and develop expertise in areas that may be unfamiliar

  • Self-motivated, positive individual comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as work well in multi-disciplinary team environment

  • Strong interpersonal and teaming skills as well as strong organizational, communication, and planning skills and ability to think big picture and bring systems thinking approach

  • Ability to prioritize and successfully respond to competing priorities

Ideally, your background would also include:

  • Proven ability to collaborate with government customers and communicate effectively on both technical and programmatic topics

  • Demonstrated use and application of systems engineering principles throughout the full systems engineering life cycle

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to exercise systems thinking in order to apply a holistic approach of considering the “big picture” and broadening the perspective for analyzing a problem and identifying solutions

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask with competing priorities and changing and sometimes ambiguous environments

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling, strong writing skills, and strong interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to implement high-quality standards while establishing and maintaining effective and positive relationships with internal and external partners at all experience and authority levels

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
