NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

Do you want to positively influence the future of our Nuclear Deterrence (ND) mission, with the unique opportunity to support both stockpile weapons programs and weapon modernization programs at the same time? If so, you could be the experienced Component and Material Evaluation (CME) System Evaluation Engineer (SEE) we seek.

CME SEEs plan and manage the evaluation of stockpile components and materials, while also implementing Federal and local ND procedures. Our team provides guidance and expertise regarding life-cycle testing, as well as partnering with ND agencies to develop equipment to test the components and products. Our efforts directly support the Annual Assessment process, as well as reliability and surety assessments for the enduring stockpile.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Plan and execute engineering programs for Sandia’s customers and sponsors.

  • Serve as the primary representative to customers and partners for ND modernization programs through the negotiation, management, and delivery of all component evaluation scope for several technology families.

  • Establish strong relationships with key influencers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Systems, component engineering teams, independent technical assessment partners, and production agencies.

  • Identify defects and aging trends, understand performance margins, and make predictive assessments of weapon components and their materials through component evaluation activities.

  • Chair Significant Finding Investigations (SFIs) to determine the root cause of anomalies discovered during component evaluations and assess the impact to the safety, security, and reliability of the stockpile.

This position requires the ability to travel up to 20% to various NNSA and DoD sites.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Master's degree in a STEM discipline plus 3 years of experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in engineering design, qualification, production, and testing.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory testing, data acquisition, and other research and development activities.

  • Demonstrated experience providing leadership and effective teaming skills.

  • Experience with leading projects or programs through the Nuclear Deterrence system engineering lifecycle.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-Level security clearance.

  • Ability to obtian Sigma 15 access.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • PhD in a STEM discipline.

  • Experience with leading projects or programs through the Nuclear Deterrence system engineering lifecycle.

  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with designing systems, subsystems, or components.

  • Knowledge and experience working with materials or support structures as they pertain to aging.

  • Self-motivated to identify and implement productivity improvements.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with implementing Sandia policies impacting design, development, and production activities and projects.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a passion and talent for fostering constructive working relationships with our customers and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability in anticipating customer and stakeholder needs.

  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and negotiation skills and ability to work effectively in diverse team environments.

About Our Team:

The Integrated Stockpile Evaluation (ISE, 7250) mission is to provide trusted leadership for Sandia and NNSA in the planning, development, execution, and analysis of an effective stockpile evaluation program while providing exemplary knowledge management for the program to support stockpile decisions. ISE focuses on providing quality products (data, testers, etc.) to support and enable stockpile decisions. The ISE team ensures operations comply with laboratory policy, to include the Realize Product Procedures (RPPs) and corporate policies. In addition, the ISE team will also comply with all interim guidance as promulgated from government and laboratory management.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Salary Range:

$99,700 - $196,100 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
