NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$101,400 - $201,400 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a driven Systems Engineer for our space satellite subsystem development and production team. The selected candidate will lead the project team responsible for the GBD IIIF Spectral Imaging Geolocation Hyper-Temporal Sensor (SIGHTS) electronics work package agreement (WPA). Join us to develop creative solutions to unique national security challenges!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Work across a multi-discipline team to deliver 14 electronic module designs and flight software to flight production and participate in subsystem integration activities; the overall subsystem design completed its CDR in December of 2022.

  • Own requirements, design definition, change control process, risk/issue management, verification and I&T planning/execution, production planning/execution, lifecycle cost estimates, review processes and schedule.

This is an opportunity to become involved in a high visibility program area that leads the full range of remote sensing space system payloads and ground system hardware and software. Improved design, development, realization, reliability, producibility and quality are all major thrusts of our program.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, or relevant STEM field, plus 5 years’ technical experience; OR Master’s degree in stated fields plus 2 years’ technical experience

  • Abiltiy to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

  • Knowledge of system engineering processes, products and tools

About Our Team:

The Intelligent Digital Systems Engineering Department (6786) specializes in research, development and delivery of reliable digital electronic systems to support all aspects of Sandia's Remote Sensing and Verification Center. We have expertise in software and hardware design and development as well as electronics testing and inspection capabilities in the department and offer services of both to a wide range of customers, including Sandia's Space Enterprise, NW, LDRD and WFO. Our products encompass a wide range of digital electronics including embedded system design/development (hardware and software), ground and flight systems, electronic module testing, first article inspection, flight-system tester development and operation, analysis of telemetry and project management (hardware and software). The work we perform for our primary customer, USNDS, has been quality certified to the AS9100C standard.

Security Clearance:
