NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$138,600 - $235,500
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
The Nuclear Deterrence (ND) Governance and Engineering Processes Team is seeking a Nuclear Weapons Requirement Integration Office (NWRIO) Lead who has passion for and the ability to lead in the negotiation of federal requirements with the Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) that impact all ND programs.
Our team is a diverse group of professionals that come from all areas of Sandia and have experience from every aspect of the ND product realization life cycle. As you survey the NW lifecycle at Sandia National Labs, you will discover this position offers an outstanding opportunity where you can:
Facilitate negotiating ND requirements with federal customers (DOE & NNSA).
Serve on the M&O Contractor Working Group as SNL Site Content Coordinator.
Build working relationships with ND leadership, management, and subject matter specialists across ND to ensure sound requirement negotiation and implementation of new or updated requirements.
Implement sound systems engineering principles, particularly around requirements management. Provide mentorship on these topics to Center 500.
Gain a breadth and depth of knowledge across the National Security Enterprise (NSE) and ND product realization lifecycle.
Lead or support ND initiatives related to federal requirements that have impact across Sandia and NSE.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Inform ND leadership, management, and subject matter specialists on potential federal requirement changes and seek their input.
Contribute to the development of a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) effort to modernize federal requirement mapping to internal ND product realization processes.
Engage the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and NSE systems engineering partners to improve interfaces and handoffs in the phased product realization process.
This position requires occasional travel.
This position can be located at Sandia Albuquerque or California with most of the work allowing a telecommuting work option. Some onsite work will be required.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor’s and advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a relevant STEM subject area, plus (4-8) years relevant experience; or Bachelor's in a relevant STEM subject area plus (12) years of relevant experience in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience in the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) specific to weapon product realization.
Thorough knowledge and applied experience with negotiating customer requirements and requirements decomposition into executable product realization processes and procedures.
Active US DOE Q-level security clearance.
Minimum of (3) and maximum of (5) letters of recommendations are required to be consideration for this position. Recommendations need to address the demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities (SKA) that you have performed at a Distinguished level
Qualifications We Desire:
Demonstrated Leadership skills.
Extensive knowledge and applied experience in Systems Engineering.
Demonstrated ability to engage customers and stakeholders in the synthesis of significant systems engineering topics and to team across subject areas and all organizational levels.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with implementing Sandia policies, processes, and procedures affecting product realization, research, projects, and initiatives.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills to include presentation creation and delivery.
Project Management Experience.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
Demonstrated ability to mentor others in systems engineering; sought for advice in this area.
Ability to develop new methods and processes as a result of identifying new perspectives and approaches in solving complex problems.
Encouraged to find new methods for negotiating requirements, gaining consensus with Sandia subject matter specialists and other NSE sites, and representing Sandia’s role as the lead system integrator, design agency, production agency, and Federally Funded Research Development Center (FFRDC) within the federal requirements space.
Ability to work independently as well as in a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary team environment to build consensus and resolve issues.
Self-motivated, positive individual comfortable working in a constantly evolving, fast moving environment.

The Nuclear Weapons Requirements Integration Office (NWRIO), which directly works with the DOE/NNSA and other sites in the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) to support the development and release of contractual requirements, ensuring all requirements are reviewed, analyzed, and implemented through Sandia product realization processes.
The Realize Product Subsystem (RPSS), which is the governed system embedding a structured and consistent approach to assure that all elements of excellence in engineering and the phased lifecycle process are implemented, while also meeting DOE/NNSA contractual requirements leading to the delivery of high-quality products.
The ND Product Realization Governance Structure (WEC, PRAC, and various Governing Boards / Councils), which fosters and achieves Sandia’s product realization excellence by addressing strategic opportunities and operational issues impacting the phased weapon lifecycle at the appropriate levels.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
