NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$101,400 - $201,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

The W93/Mk7 program is seeking a System Integration Engineer to lead the integration needs between the system, production agencies and DoD partners for Phase 2 activities. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated, mission-driven team, able to work closely with technical staff, management, and customers to address various program needs representing all partner organizations concurrently. With the system integration lead to leverage efforts across the program to ensure all stakeholder needs are being met. This position will also involve significant engagement with Los Alamos National Laboratories (LANL) and Lockheed Martin Space (LMS). The successful candidate should be comfortable in both the technical and cooperative leadership venues with strong teaming and communication skills.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Act as an interface between LANL and LMS for technical planning and integration with Pantex and the DoD

  • Assist the System Integration Lead in support of the Reentry Body Assembly Working Group needs

  • Support trades balancing needs for performance, costs, risks, materials, functionalities, and technology maturation

  • Prepare presentations and other supporting documentation needed for technical and programmatic reviews

  • Assist with cost account management/Earned Value Management as needed

  • Represent the program while collaborating regularly with partners at Sandia, Los Alamos National Laboratories, Lockheed Martin Space, Applied Physics Lab, Navy Strategic Programs and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)

    Due to the nature of work, selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science field plus 7 years’ related experience; or equivalent years of education and relevant experience

  • Active DOE Q level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience with JNWPS (Joint Nuclear Weapon Publication System) processes and working directly with ML (Military Liaison).

  • Experience coordinating with PX (Pantex) and understanding of authorization basis (AB) processes.

  • Experience in systems engineering of complex systems.

  • Experience with ND component or system design, development or production.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment showing initiative and leadership.

  • Motivation to work with a large integrated Systems team with broad interaction.

  • Must be able to apply strong interpersonal and communications skills working with a diverse team ranging from skilled laborers to PhD engineers/scientist.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute technical work.

  • Ability to negotiate competing requirements to give the best system-level outcome.

  • Ability to discover, understand and articulate constraints, options, paths-forward.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The W93 System Integration Department has System-Level Engineering and Integration responsibility for the W93/Mk7 Navy Strategic Reentry System Program. The department provides technical leadership in such areas as requirements development, system engineering processes, and surety integration, to name a few. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
