NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$101,400 - $201,400 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
Are you an experienced RF or microwave systems and components engineer motivated by Sandia National Laboratory’s calling to “render an exceptional service in the national interest?” Integrated Telemetry Systems is seeking a highly motivated RF engineer to design, build, and test RF telemetry transmitters. You will work in a RF laboratory supporting programs exclusive to the nation’s premier engineering laboratory.
On any given day, you may be called upon to:
Design, build, test, and troubleshoot RF power amplifiers
Design and/or build test equipment to validate hardware performance
Simulate RF data link performance over a given 6DOF flight path
Support environmental acceptance and qualification testing of flight hardware
Coordinate with a team of technologists to build and test hardware
Develop and present proposals to customers for both telemetry and flight termination system applications
Coordinate with teams both across the Labs and external to Sandia
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or relevant STEM field) plus 8 or more years’ of experience working in the RF field.
OR MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or relevant STEM field) plus 2 or more years’ of experience working in the RF field.
OR PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or relevant STEM field).
Experience working with the following equipment:
Network Analyzer
Spectrum Analyzer
Oscilloscope
DC Power Supply
Power Meter
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Experience design, building, and testing RF power amplifiers
Experience performing link-margin analysis
PCB schematic design and board layout prototyping experience
Experience working in an ESD environment
Experience working under FOD control
Experience soldering and populating PCBs
Experience in environmental qualification and acceptance testing of flight hardware
High speed digital design experience
Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) design experience

The Weapons Design and Assurance Center 7600 is a multi-discipline, product-focused organization that provides engineering design, components, subsystems, integration, testing, and field support for nuclear weapons and other national security applications. Examples of these applications include the development of satellite and other space-flight payloads and testing for high consequence military programs. The Center is divided into four main competencies: Advanced Mechanical Design, Firing & Embedded Systems, Hi-Reliability Electronic Products, and Data Systems Engineering.
