NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

The Electronic Systems Ops Department is seeking highly motivated Mechanical Engineers to join our dynamic team, which focuses on specialty sensor, electronics, and RF technologies for a wide variety of national security missions including both Nuclear Deterrence (ND) and Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP). The selected candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a dynamic teaming environment, sharing resources as well as programmatic responsibilities across the group.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Apply strong multi-disciplined team leadership skills, military acquisition and product delivery knowledge, and an understanding of rigorous engineering design processes to successfully address national security mission needs.
Act as the primary interface between systems and component/subsystem teams to drive successful design integration across all phases of the program.
Collaborate with Production agencies to ensure stable and smooth production.
Ability to integrate into and work effectively across multiple technical teams.
Utilize appropriate configuration management to ensure documentation is appropriately captured and project history is maintained.
Produce designs, models, and product definition of complex objects.
Determine product requirements based on user needs.
Use CAD application software to develop mechanical design concepts integral to electronics and systems.
Evaluate design options using analysis and optimization techniques.
Specify materials, equipment, and suppliers required to complete product development and may evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.
Establish and review design methods and procedures and prepares design specifications, analyses, and recommendations for presentation and approval.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.
Qualifications We Require:
Master’s degrees in relevant STEM discipline, plus 1 year experience OR
Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM, plus, five years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
Current active DOE Q-level or DOD Top Secret security clearance to start.
Qualifications We Desire:
Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:
Experience in a leadership role.
Knowledge and practice of formal ND product realization processes and procedures.
Experience with Production and Sustainment support
Experience with development of specifications for components and systems.
Previous working relationships with Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) and NNSA
Top-notch verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling.
Familiarity with delivering high rigor systems, production, product development and qualification, testing and evaluation.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
