NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$101,400 - $201,400 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

The Advanced Fuzing Technology department (7627) has a broad portfolio that involves contributions to both Sandia’s Nuclear Deterrence mission and various Strategic Partnership Programs supporting work across the U.S. government. We are on the forefront of research and development activities in the DoD and DOE fuzing communities. To this end, we seek to fill a position in our technical staff for designing, developing, testing, qualifying, and monitoring products and technologies associated with fuzing and firing subsystems.

We provide opportunities for leadership, travel, training, and collaboration across the laboratory.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Design, develop, and provide ownership for electrical designs.

  • Coordinate with system customers, production agencies, and other stakeholders to support design, testing, development, qualification, and production activities.

  • Analyze performance against requirements, build prototypes, and refine designs.

  • Perform modeling and simulation of design performance.

  • Utilize tools and software to perform configuration management.

  • Guide and direct fundamental research associated with fuzing systems and report to industry partners, DoD stakeholders, and various funding organizations.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Advanced Degree (Master’s minimum) in Electrical Engineering or relevant subject area; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability as determined by the hiring manager

  • At least 5 years of experience designing and/or delivering electrical circuits – for example analog design, FPGA- or microcontroller-based digital design, printed circuit board design, and/or power/high-voltage design

  • Applicants chosen for an interview will be asked to provide an overview briefing of an example that illustrates their design experience

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Demonstrated attention to detail

  • Work with high voltage electronics.

  • Strong background in analog circuit design

  • Ability to propose new work, draft proposals, and sell ideas

  • Proven experience working in Nuclear Deterrence and/or DoD weapons programs

  • Strong background in at least one of the following areas:

  • DC-DC converter design

  • embedded software development (FPGA’s, microcontrollers, etc.)

  • electromagnetics

  • Ability to work on cross-organizational/multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask with contending priorities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a teaming environment

  • Active DOE Q clearance

Security Clearance:
