This includes the development and fielding of high-performance Avionics, Inertial, and Radar systems to support various nuclear weapon (NW), National Security programs (NSP), homeland security, and interagency programs and R&D initiatives.

Center 5300 is seeking motivated and energetic electrical design engineers to join our team working on complex multi-disciplinary designs targeting command and control, communications, and data processing for scientific and national defense applications. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for contributing as part of a team to complex systems that target state-of-the-art electronics. Candidates with a strong a desire to learn and develop your own skills will be crucial and beneficial as you join a fun and motivated team to accomplish missions vital to our nation. Electrical engineering opportunities exist in various application areas including Navigation/Pointing/Control Systems, RADAR Systems, Arming/Fuzing Systems, Next Generation Communication Systems, or Advanced RF systems.Some daily activities may include:

  • Analyze, design, and develop electronic circuits, subsystems, and modules

  • Create electronic designs & verify design through simulation.

  • Schematic capture and printed circuit board design and layout.

  • System level design and integration

  • Lead and participate in conceptual design and review

  • Conduct laboratory and field system testing and data analysis

  • Team effectively with the organization’s expertise in electronics, mechanical, software, and algorithm development

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering; or other relevant STEM discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Electronic design for mixed signal circuits and simulation

  • Design of amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, digital design, FPGA, power regulation circuits, or micro processors

  • Serial interface communication standards

  • Electronic circuit verification via simulation.

  • Schematic capture tools such as Mentor Graphics DxDesigner or PADS, Altium, OrCAD, or other schematic capture tools.

  • Laboratory test equipment to help test and verify electronic hardware.

  • Excellent teaming and communication skills

  • Experience with inertial sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, GPS, IMU)

  • Working knowledge of a high level programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python

  • Current DOE Q-level clearance.

Center 5300 provides key electronics systems deliverables to a wide variety of programs across Sandia (including nuclear weapons, space, intelligence and military systems) and also directly manages the Surveillance and Reconnaissance (S&R) Program.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Salary Range:

$86,300 - $166,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
