What Your Job Will Be Like:
Be part of a high functioning, inter-disciplinary, elite collaborative team that solves complex engineering challenges. You’ll make a difference in national security and contribute to Sandia’s top-priority mission. We are seeking highly motivated, professional R&D Computer Scientists to join our team to develop, design, implement, and maintain strategies to lead R&D project teams. Opportunities exist to develop new technology strategies and to lead R&D project teams. On any given day, you may be called upon to:
Deliver technology solutions across the broad spectrum of ND mission data
Participate in front-end, back-end, database, UI/UX, testing, and architecture roles in an agile software development environment
Propose and participate in internal research and development efforts
Selected applicants will be interviewed by a subcommittee of managers. Subsequently, successful applicants will be provided to managers for placement in positions across Center 7600.
Interested applicants should be currently enrolled and pursuing a Master's degree in a relevant STEM field.
This positions will require reporting onsite due to the nature of the work.
Some travel may be required.
Qualifications We Require:
Advanced (Masters or PhD) degree in Electrical Science or relevant STEM discipline
Undergraduate degree in a relevant STEM discipline
Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-Level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Experience using version control tools such as Git in a configuration-controlled software development environment
An understanding of common software design patterns and architectures
Experience using testing frameworks such as Cypress, Karma, Locust, JUnit, or other testing frameworks appropriate to experience
Ability to utilize debugging tools, static analysis tools, test harnesses, and other capabilities to troubleshoot and fix complex software applications and libraries
Experience designing and implementing SQL and/or NoSQL databases as well as an understanding and experience with query languages and data mining tools for database interaction and multi-source data integration
An understanding of client/server, web-based, and server-side computing architectures focusing on metadata mining concepts
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team setting for a common purpose
Experience using CI/CD tools such as maven, gradle, Jenkins, gitlab, github, or docker
Experience with agile testing methodologies and agile software development through Scrum, Kanban, or other processes including XP, test driven development, continuous integration, etc
Experience designing, implementing, or using REST APIs
About Our Team:
The Engineering and Design Integration Center (7600) is a multi-discipline, product-focused organization that provides engineering design, components, subsystems, integration, testing, and field support for nuclear weapons and other national security applications. Examples of these applications include the development of satellite and other space-flight payloads and testing for high consequence military programs. The Center is divided into three main competencies: Advanced Mechanical Systems, Sensor and Fuze Engineering, and Telemetry and Software Systems.

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
