About Our Team:
Organizations Directed Energy Missions (05497) and Directed Energy Assessments (05499) are high-performance, multi-disciplinary teams dedicated to pushing the frontiers of electromagnetic attack and defensive technology. Our primary areas of interest include high-power electromagnetic systems, compact pulsed power systems, radio frequency sources, antennas, and electronic effects phenomena. We implement research and development to support not only the lab’s Directed Energy mission but also many of the other missions of Sandia. Work environments range from laboratory work in brand-new facilities to field work at local and remote test sites. Our delivered work products are studies, analyses, and hardware intended to provide beyond-state-of-the-art Directed Energy and RF technologies to the war-fighter. These departments also work seamlessly with the Directed Energy Applications department (05498). These three departments form a larger team called the Directed Energy Enterprise.
