NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking outstanding individuals in an R&D Laboratory Support Technologist role to join a fast-paced team pursuing world-leading research in semiconductor nanoelectronics for quantum computing. The successful candidate will interact with a diverse group of physicists, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers in a dynamic research environment. The individual will support the team by testing and analyzing quantum devices, troubleshooting equipment, performing electrical and/or mechanical design and assembly, performing maintenance of cryogenic systems, and documenting procedures..

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Support testing of quantum devices through:

  • Preparing test equipment and apparatus,

  • Participating in device characterization and testing, and

  • Managing, organizing, analyzing, and presenting device experimental data.

  • Assist with instrumentation testing and qualification for our experimental test stands.

  • Support data acquisition software testing and development.

  • Test, evaluate, and troubleshoot instrumentation-software interfaces.

  • Procure equipment and hardware in support of new research activities.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or closely related STEM field

  • Experience with scientific testing and experimentation, including data collection and analysis

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Willingness to work in a research team environment

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting scientific apparatus and experimental systems

  • Experience programming and troubleshooting scientific instrumentation

  • Experience with semiconductor device operation and testing

  • Experience with basic electrical assembly techniques such as circuit board layout and soldering

  • Ability to develop and maintain documentation

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to self-coordinate and complete multiple tasks with competing priorities

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, teaming, and communication skills

About Our Team:

The Advanced Silicon Quantum Devices Department of the Advanced Microsystems Group conducts groundbreaking research on semiconductor-based devices for quantum information sciences applications. Our fundamental expertise lies in semiconductor-based quantum dot and donor-based qubits. Our core capabilities are semiconductor qubit development and measurement, quantum coherent control, cryogenic characterization and measurement, and quantum information science and technology. We use our positive relationships within the Microsystems Engineering Sciences and Applications (MESA) foundry facility, the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT), and other internal and external organizations to develop advanced solid-state quantum device technologies.

Security Clearance:
