NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$101,400 - $201,400 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a driven R&D Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team and work cohesively to handle a wide variety of roles and responsibilities. Join us in supporting engineering efforts across all phases of projects spanning from conceptual-design studies to assembly, build, and test!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Evaluate new electronic components for use in satellite, ground station, and consumer products.
Develop automation for component library management, component parametric information, and supply chain integration.
Perform failure analysis, drive root cause investigations and corrective actions for component related issues.
Optimize products by driving design component commonality and reuse, and execute up-screening campaigns to determine suitability of commercial electronics for the mission environment.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering or in a relevant field, plus eight (8) or more years of directly related experience; Or Master's degree as stated above, plus five (5) years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
Experience in the following:
Supporting Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) electronics, qualification, and applications.
Technical project management experience
Mil-Spec and space qualified electronics.
Electronic design from concept through schematic capture, PCB layout, fabrication, assembly, and test/verification.
Radiation effects testing of electronics
Troubleshooting Electronic Assemblies down to the component level
Performing failure analysis and destructive physical analysis investigations to provide corrective actions and paths to closure
Experience in one or more of the following areas: semiconductor physics, physics of failure, accelerated testing, design for reliability, EEE component design
Understanding of different package types for electronic components
Advanced understanding of manufacturing systems for electronic components
Knowledge of accelerated test profiles for component-level screening and qualification testing
Presentation skills to clearly communicate status of projects, issues, path forward, etc.
Ability to efficiently multi-task projects and roles within projects.
Current and active DOE "Q" security clearance or "L" clearance with ability to obtain a "Q".

The Remote Sensing Systems Group (06780) provides the competencies necessary for harnessing and developing the world’s best technologies, practices, and suppliers for realizing advanced remote sensing systems. The RSS Group leads and implements the design, fabrication, integration, testing, and delivery of the Global Burst Detection (GBD) Program Satellite Payloads. We provide a broad competency base of needed skill sets for the development of advanced satellite payloads, nuclear deterrence (ND) support needs, and other work for others (WFO) programs. We can use our unique capabilities and team with others to provide end-to-end program needs.
