NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$101,400 - $201,400 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

If so, Organization 7228, W88 ALTs 370/940 Product Realization, is seeking a highly motivated R&D Electrical Engineer to join the W88 Alt 370 AF&F Systems Team! On any given day, one may be called upon to:
Resolve technical and programmatic design, development, qualification, and production challenges in a collaborative manner with multiple internal and external agencies.
Demonstrate technical leadership in identifying and managing technical risks.
Analyze system performance against requirements.
Support the completion of functional and interface component requirements.
Update design definition and documentation.
Assess, plan, and report progress compared to program plan.
Work effectively with systems engineers from multiple organizations to solve technical problems, including Sandia National Labs (SNL), Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Pantex (PX), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), etc.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Some travel may be required for this position.
Qualifications We Require:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field, plus one (1) year of experience; OR Bachelor's degree in stated field, plus five (5) years of experience.
Experience in a nuclear weapon system or component organization.
Active DOE Q-level security clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Top Secret.
Qualifications We Desire:
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in above stated field.
A desire and ability to work on and communicate ambiguous issues with dynamic conditions, competing importance, and firm target dates in a constantly evolving environment with urgency.
Proven experience in systems engineering including requirements definition, requirements mapping, and requirements verification.
A demonstrated ability to integrate, build, and work effectively across technical teams, collaborate with customers and partners to resolve issues, and conduct trade-offs to identify system solutions.
Familiarity with the 6.x Product Life Cycle.
Experience in test equipment engineering.
Experience with the following software/programming languages:
Matlab, Labview TestStand, VB.Net, Verilog
Experience with data and failure analysis.
Experience working system integration/interface issues.
Experience writing Engineering Authorizations.
Previous work with the Kansas City National Security Campus.
Experience with DOD or DOE programs.
Effective communication skills, internally and externally.
About Our Team:
Department 7228 W88 ALTs 370/940 Product Realization, provide systems engineering and program integration for the US Navy Strategic Nuclear Weapons. The department is directly responsible for the design, development, and qualification the W88 ALT 370 System consisting of the Mk5 reentry body, the integrated Arming, Fuzing, and Firing (AF&F) system for the reentry body, and the ISA project named ALT 940. Other responsibilities include project planning and management, risk management, systems engineering design, development testing and modeling, and system qualification. Our departments focus has transitioned into early production in our partnership with our production agency to deliver Mk5 reentry bodies and AF&Fs to the nation’s deterrent needs.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
