NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$101,400 - $201,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Collaborate with engineering clients to analyze / simulate electrical designs using HyperLynx software as well as tools contained with Siemen’s Xpedition tools suit,
Collaborate with engineers in schematic creation based on electrical requirements,
Plan and direct technical projects to implement tools and processes that enable the Electrical CAD (ECAD) / printed circuit board (PCB) department to further advance the engineering services provided at the labs.
Serve as a PCB layout subject matter expert,
Determine material selection and specification for PWB products,
Create designs for manufacturing specifications for PWB products,
Mentor and train junior staff, and
Interface between the ECAD department and clients to complete strategic initiatives.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite
Qualifications We Require:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field plus 1 year of related experience; or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field plus 5 years of experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Understanding of Electrical CAD applications, PCB fabrication, and/or software systems
Ability to develop, document, and maintain engineering processes
Knowledge and experience in material selection and specification for PWB products
Knowledge and experience in design for manufacturing specifications for PWB products
Experience with Siemen’s Xpedition tool suite
Circuit design experience
Proven ability to deliver large and complex projects
Ability to determine training needs of a department and develop training material
Knowledge and understanding of the ND engineering systems and the NNSA product realization process
Demonstrated ability to team well with internal and external partners and customers.
Configuration management specific training and or application
Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and complete tasks in a high-pressure and/or ambiguous environment
Demonstrated teaming skills, including the ability to work effectively with other organizations, functions, project sponsors and customers, and suppliers
Demonstrated effectiveness working in an environment with dynamic conditions, competing priorities, and firm deadlines
Demonstrated ability to understand and work with a diverse set of technologies
Demonstrated competency to discover, understand and articulate constraints & develop options and paths-forward
About Our Team:
Electrical Design Department (2963) is responsible for providing knowledgeable and capable resources to develop and create ECAD product definition in support of our Nation’s security programs. We partner with engineering teams across the lab to produce innovative design solutions. We communicate design options and recommended approaches to product development teams, stakeholders, and manufacturing partners. The department’s unique capabilities include design capture and physical layout of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for both analog and digital regimes, multi-chip modules using Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic Technology (LTCC), Flex and Rigid Flex Cables and PCBs; and interacting with vendors to procure quick turn prototype circuit boards.
