We are looking for experienced data scientists/engineers with a broad set of technical skills to take on problems across including:
Applied research across multiple mission domains
Solving Broad Data Science Problems
Machine Learning / Deep Learning Modeling and Algorithm Development
Prototyping and pathfinding new concepts to solve technology challenges which mitigate risk and provide future solutions for projects
Image and signal processing, computer vision application and research
Uncertainty Quantification for MLDL and other algorithms in high-consequence applications
Growth and focus in data analysis across a number of sources including remote sensing, systems testers, and microscopes
On any given day the selected candidate may be called on to:
Lead a group of researchers/engineers to solve difficult scientific problems for national security purposes
Apply state-of-the art techniques which solve the most challenging data analysis problems for a wide array of customers.
Work collaboratively with customers to understand requirements, available data and mission need
Contribute to deeply rewarding missions through engagement with diverse computer science specialties and in areas such as data fusion, signal processing, analytics, cloud computing, machine learning, modeling/simulation, service oriented architectures, and in the future big-data management and visualization, plus pattern recognition
Engage in Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) Proposals.
Engage in presenting, publishing and collaborating to advance groundbreaking research
Candidates will be interviewed and hired to support one or multiple teams within the 6362— Emergent System and Analysis department.
This role has exciting growth opportunities and is an integral part of the successful delivery of our missions. Additionally, this role will include a variety of interactions across (6360 and 6370) including collaboration with partner organizations and partner projects. Undergraduate and Graduate (Masters or PhD) degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant STEM degree. A relevant STEM bachelor's degree plus 6 years directly related experience may also be considered
Technical leadership experience
Experience with modeling, scientific computing and/or machine/deep learning, image and signal processing.
Can obtain a DOE Q clearance with SCI
Experience with Python, C++, Java, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Linux
Experience writing proposals
Experience publishing and presenting
Knowledge and experience with implementation of the full software development process using Agile or other Iterative methodologies
Self-directed, organized, and able to work independently as well as in numerous different sized teams
Experience developing critical data processing and analysis systems
Ability to work with various teams across multiple development sub-teams
Strong organizational skills
Full stack software development, including familiarity with modern software development practices and tools
The ability to handle multiple tasks and handle contending priorities
Strong customer-focus and can-do response to questions/requests with demonstrated outstanding follow through
Proven strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Outstanding communication and presentation skills

The Emergent Systems and Analysis department specializes in the exploration, development, and analysis of emergent and disruptive technologies in computer science to solve complex problems.
