NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$101,400 - $201,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Interact with team members to identify needs and requirements

  • Perform engineering or research tasks independently or across multi-functional teams to turn those needs into practical software solutions

  • Analyze existing innovative solutions and develop new solutions to address national security needs

  • Develop solutions to complex problems that require frequent use of creativity and analysis to perform in-depth evaluations across many factors

  • Present your findings and solutions to your team or organization

  • Participate in various team planning, standup or team meetings, demos, and retrospectives, depending on the project's software development lifecycle process

  • Produce and disseminate research proposals, reports, or papers

This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require:

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering plus 4 or more years of relevant experience or a Ph.D. degree in a relevant STEM field with demonstrated computer science competency

  • Proficiency in C++ or Java

  • Knowledge of multiple scripting languages including Python and JavaScript

  • Demonstrated R&D experience in software development/engineering

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE security clearance and SCI clearance

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
