What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Machine Repair Trades
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Plan and perform a variety of machine repair operations in an engineering, research and development, and/or complex production environment.
Work involves performing work operations necessary for the maintenance, repair, modification, or overhaul of precision, production, and custom-built, machines and accessories.
Responsibilities include operating state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical equipment that requires the creation, operation, and editing of various computer programs; performing complex and difficult setups using tools, cameras, microscopes, and other equipment; performing associated operations such as welding, sheet metal fabricating or metal spraying as necessary; providing technical oversight for fabricate-to-print work; serving as a consultant to technical personnel on design manufacturability; and acting as a lead person which includes, but is not limited to, responsibilities for making schedule commitments, assignment of work to co-workers, and instructing or training others.
Support machine repair field activities as required.
Perform work using industry-standard safety practice.
Utilize a computerized database to maintain required records.
As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee.
Posting Duration:

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Qualifications We Require:
Experience with machine tool repair to include preventative maintenance and repair work.
Experience working on high-precision machines and systems.
Demonstrated ability to work safely in potentially hazardous environments.
Ability to work individually as well as part of a high-performing team.
Superior customer service skills.
One or more professional certifications.
Typical experience includes minimum of 5 - 8 years as a fully qualified Machine Repair Tradesperson, and completion of a State Approved Machinist apprenticeship program.
The selected individual will work as part of the Equipment Lifecycle Team. .

About Our Team:
The Structural Services department is the maintenance team in charge of maintaining Sandia National Laboratories facilities, including road grading, landscaping, gates, turnstiles, plumbing, millwright work, painting, carpentry, mechanical utilities, and snow removal. To maintain the facilities, we are divided into four distinct teams: Structural Services 1, Structural Services 2, Mechanical Utilities, and Roads and Grounds.

Security Clearance:
