Sandia National Laboratories Postdoctoral Appointee: Semiconductor R&D in Albuquerque, New Mexico

A post-doctoral opening exists for an exceptional candidate to conduct leading edge research in the areas of advanced complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) devices, other advanced semiconductor device technologies, and memristive/resistive memory (ReRAM) and other forms of non-volatile memories. This research will support Sandia’s efforts in state-of-the-art technologies and Brain Inspired Computing (BIC).

Required:

  • The candidate must possess Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related STEM field with an emphasis in electron device characterization, fabrication, or modeling.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment is required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Desired:

  • Strong background and understanding of semiconductor device physics, electrical characterization, and modeling.
  • A demonstrated ability to write papers for publication in refereed journals.
  • Basic experience with one or more common programming languages commonly used for programming laboratory equipment (LabVIEW, Python, etc).
  • Experience using electronic device characterization instruments and knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes are a plus.
  • Organizational skills as well as the ability to interact well in a team environment are critical.

Department Description:

Responsible for developing, integrating, characterizing, and ensuring the reliability of radiation-hardened microelectronics fabricated in the Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) facilities. Advanced device development activities are also a significant part of the team¿s work, focusing on end-of-the roadmap technologies such as resistive memories, optoelectronics, and heterogeneous integration.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
