Are you passionate about your work and dream of using innovative facilities to explore solutions? If so, you could be the experienced Operations & Engineering Lead we are seeking to work with customers and facility partners to define and negotiate facility system requirements, define necessary resources, and direct the execution of projects to enable mission function and performance.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Lead the design and development of Facilities processes and the end-to-end performance assurance system including developing the organizational structure.

  • Analyze process design to reduce costs, improve work efficiencies, customer satisfaction, and performance.

  • Assist Centers 4700/4800 management with Assurance activities including audits and assessments, corrective actions, training, and resource acquisition.

  • Design, develop, and document work processes to include primary inputs, outputs, and expected work methods.

  • Use engineering judgment, built upon a strong engineering and technical background, to identify potential facilities operational risks, develop risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions, and recommend risk acceptance or avoidance for facilities operations.

  • Develop and maintain roles and responsibilities for all roles designed into the processes and served up in the process management system/FAST.

  • Participate in and support audit and assessment activities.

  • Lead and support Lean/Six Sigma events.

  • Review and respond to feedback and inquiries received through the Facilities website or Intake system.

  • Participate in developing Facilities performance metrics and performance targets.

  • Analyze process design using process management and quality improvement methods to streamline process flow and improve work integration in order to improve customer satisfaction, decrease costs, increase work efficiencies, and improve overall performance.

  • Prepare quarterly Assurance element status report noting progress, issues, and concerns.

  • Test, Pilot and Roll Out new process designs and improvements.

  • Communicate process and system changes.

  • Assist in training the organization on revised processes and procedures.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Business plus five (5) years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Quality Assurance

  • Strategic planning

  • Facilities management

  • Risk management

  • Management review or Performance assurance assessments and management and monitoring of internal customer performance evaluations and expectations;

  • or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.


  • Technical and business knowledge and experience in policy, strategic planning and partnerships.

  • Broad understanding of Facilities activities.

  • Experience using Maximo and TRIRIGA systems.

  • Ability to independently prioritize and complete multiple and competing assignments. Proven ability to work in a team-focus environment and exercise discretion.

  • Demonstrated success in communicating with staff and managers and providing excellence in customer service.

  • Willingness to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.

  • Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously if required.

  • Strong writing, critical thinking, communication/presentation and organizational skills.

    Department Description:

The Strategic and Technical Operations department teams with Facilities leaders and managers to improve customer satisfaction through their use of the Facilities process-based Quality Management System (QMS). Utilizing the QMS processes and tools ensures consistent and predictable results. The department helps plan for business needs, supports major initiatives, and provides centralized resources for requirements management, risk management, publications, process design, training, measures and metrics, audits and assessments, corrective actions, lessons learned, communications, information technology, records, and continual improvement.

Security Clearance:
