NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$88,600 - $172,300
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Systems Engineer for a great new opportunity to contribute to the development of an integrated operational and management system to effectively sustain the Microsystems Engineering, Science and Applications (MESA) capability into the future and enable Sandia’s largest capability to research, develop, and produce microelectronics for our Nuclear Deterrence (ND) and National Security programs. In this role you will design and implement an integrated risk management program that allows MESA leadership to prioritize resources to mitigate our most critical risks.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Perform a balance of tactical and strategic work.
Implement corporate-required risk management processes in a tailored approach to meet MESA’s needs.
Perform risk assessments, including research, analysis, identification of risk, and continuous monitoring of vulnerabilities.
Develop approach to increase visibility of risks across the center to collectively problem solve and leverage standard methodologies.
Partner with experts across MESA, creating metrics and dashboards to quickly communicate risks and enable informed decisions.
Aggregate risk data and information from across the center to articulate MESA’s risk posture and develop meaningful mitigation plans.
Present MESA leadership with options to burn down critical risks and develop processes to monitor progress.
Benchmark with internal and external production and R&D capabilities to understand standard processes.
Write/review/update technical process documents.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM field plus five (5) years’ experience or;
Master’s degree in relevant STEM field plus one (1) year experience or;
equivalent combination of relevant education and experience (AS + 9 years/13 years)
Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Knowledge of microelectronic industry and production processes
Knowledge of risk management standard methodologies
Experience:
managing multiple complex initiatives
working with NNSA customers
working in ND Systems organization
Outstanding communication skills with a track record of building and maintaining collaborative and customer relationships
Experience using a systems engineering approach to put process into action

Department 5292 is responsible for the integration of strategic activities focused on sustaining the MESA capability into the future. Specifically, we sustain MESA by partnering with functional experts across the Laboratory to build an integrated operational system enabling continual delivery to our national security mission.
