NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
Do you want to join a dynamic team that develops creative solutions for our nation's security? If so, you could be the Facilities Mechanical Engineer we are seeking to join our team! You will lead engineering activities and provide direction to the Work Coordination & Control and Maintenance Team Leaders for questions regarding systems affected by projects, operations, and maintenance activities. We also identify facility project needs through the Condition Assessment, Resource Conservation, or Operations processes and assist in integrating those needs across the site.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Maintain a broad understanding of the building systems, safety systems structures and components, and design basis.
Write high-rigor planned outage procedures and switching memos and review/approve all procedures and memos for assigned portfolio.
Support project requirements development, developing and analyzing design options and alternatives, A/E Q&A, engineered safety, and project design reviews focusing on specification and standard reviews at the building system level operations and maintainability of equipment.
Provide technical expertise and analysis in support of predictive and preventative maintenance technologies.
Support Affinity Groups, Standards, Specifications and Design Manual develop, and improvement.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

Qualifications We Require:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field plus five (5) or more years of related experience; or a Master's degree in above plus one (1) or more years of relevant experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
Ph.D in relevant field with an emphasis in HVAC or mechanical utilities
Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (P.E) license, or a current active Professional Engineer (P.E) license
Experience working with nuclear facilities, using computerized facilities management systems (Maximo, Tririga, etc)
Understanding of NNSA, DOE or other federal government requirements
Knowledge of current mechanical codes and standards (IBC, ASHRAE), scoping detailed mechanical projects, and correcting mechanical systems
Skills in analysis and reasoning to identify and resolve mechanical risk issues with the mission in mind and assist in making recommendations to management
Background developing and implementing a preventive maintenance plans
Leadership skills including the ability to articulate the vision to key partners
Working knowledge and understanding in Facilities engineering, design, construction and contracting, best standards and practices
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment
Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion

Salary Range:
$88,600 - $172,300
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
