About Our Team:
The Transportation Safeguards and Surety Program has responsibility for developing technical solutions that ensure the safety and security of the nation's nuclear assets during over the road shipment. With capabilities spanning the R-D-A spectrum, the team enables America's nuclear deterrence through sustainment of the existing fleet of Safeguards Transporters (SGT) while developing the next generation Mobile Guardian Transporters (MGT). In support of those primary missions, our team leads assessments of safety and security vulnerabilities and conducts research and development in resilient structural design, secure communications, and access delay technologies. As part of our initiative to grow our national leadership in transportation technology, we are recruiting a team of interns to join our Research Institution for Transportation Safety and Security at Sandia (RITS3). If you have a passion for ensuring America's nuclear safety and security in a rapidly changing world of transportation technology, we encourage you to apply.

If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
