Intern - Security Info & Awareness - Business Undergraduate Summer

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a proactive and team-oriented Student Intern to be a member of the Security Awareness team to develop, assist and implement various security outreach activities and Department of Energy order requirements (e.g. required security briefings).

On any given day, you may be called upon to:

• Partner with S&S programs to develop, update and implement DOE required Security Awareness briefings for members of the workforce

• Present Security Awareness briefings to various organizations regarding security roles and responsibilities to audience sizes ranging from 10-15 to 50

• + Develop and implement Security Awareness campaigns, presentations, handouts, activities targeting specific S&S programs and security concerns

• Develop, update and/or maintain program training, controlled documents, and policies

• Ensure execution of the SF-312, Non-Disclosure Agreement for newly cleared personnel as required by DOE order

• Partner with S&S programs to develop, update, and maintain security knowledge base articles

• Partner with Security Connection to identify/conduct security trends and analysis

Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

• Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited related undergraduate program

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0

• Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer

• U.S. citizenship

• Experience speaking in front of large audiences

• Experience in customer service

• Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple projects and tasks

• Demonstrated ability to apply critical-thinking skills to synthesize disparate detailed data into useful information

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex issues both in writing and verbally

• Creativity in developing new methods of how information is presented to members of the workforce

• Experience working in a team setting

• Interested working in National Security

• Ability to develop creative solutions

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in National Security, Business, Marketing, Communications, Criminology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Political Science

Org. 4257, Security Information and Awareness is part of Sandia’s Safeguards & Security (S&S) Center, whose primary function is protection and support of Sandia’s mission, information, resources, and people. The Security Information and Awareness Department comprises Security Connection, Security Awareness, and Operations Security (OPSEC). The department is responsible for providing information and assistance that all Members of the Workforce need to perform their work in a secure manner. Information is disseminated via the Security Connection knowledgebase, in Security Awareness briefings, through security-related training, and through interaction and assessment of activities via the OPSEC Program.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
