What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Intern Year Round - Undergrad
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Collaborate with security professionals and mission programs in identifying and mitigating security risks within various program areas across Sandia's mission
Conduct OPSEC review/assessment activities
Develop/communicate Operations Security plans, and contribute to meetings in support and representation of the OPSEC Program
Partake in the development of strategic, streamlined, and/or automated solutions, for the OPSEC Program
Research, benchmark, and propose innovative concepts in support of progressing the OPSEC Program
Analyze information and or data systems to report on risks, threats, and vulnerabilities both internal and open source
Handle, process, and contribute to critical reports regarding assessment findings and risks
Posting Duration:

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Qualifications We Require:
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
U.S. citizenship
Qualifications We Desire:
Currently pursuing a degree in Criminology, Sociology, Homeland/National/Global Security, Security/Intelligence Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adjust priorities as deemed appropriate
Strong information management skills, including the ability to independently research and analyze information and data from multiple sources
Interest in working in a multi-disciplinary team environment to solve complex problems
Demonstrate experience conducting work independently
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally
Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
Interest in having a career working in national security
Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple projects and tasks
Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to initiate work, solve problems, and achieve results
About Our Team:
Org. 4257, Security Information & Awareness, is part of the Safeguards & Security (S&S) Center, whose primary function is protection and support of Sandia’s mission, information, resources, and people. We strive to develop strategic partnerships and provide effective tools and resources to fully integrate security into every aspect of the work performed at Sandia. The Security Information and Awareness Department comprises of Security Connection, Security Awareness, and Operations Security (OPSEC). The department is responsible for providing information that all Members of the Workforce need to perform their work in a secure manner. Information is disseminated via the Security Connection knowledgebase, in Security Awareness briefings, through security-related training, and through OPSEC activities.
This posting is specifically for the OPSEC Program, whose primary role is to protect critical information through the identification and management of threats, risks, vulnerabilities, mitigations, and countermeasure strategies, for all programs/activities at Sandia National Laboratories so as to prevent sabotage delay, or compromise to Sandia’s mission.

Security Clearance:
