What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Summer- Technical Undergraduate Intern to join our synamic team!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Support system level test and integration activities involving embedded computers

  • Analyze empirical data obtained from component and system level test activities

  • Contribute to the application and advance of hardware-in-the-loop simulation deployments

  • Develop device drivers and application layer software for use in embedded computing applications

  • Perform electrical circuit analyses

  • Mature enterprise software for compliance with coding and safety standards

  • Test flight components in simulated operating environments

Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited related undergraduate program

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer

  • U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Currently pursuing either an Electrical or Computer Engineering Degree

  • Proficient in the use of Mathworks Matlab

  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Windows, Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Successful completion of Calculus II and Engineering Physics, or equivalent

  • Programming experience in an object-oriented language such as C++, Java, or Python

  • Experience with basic drawing packages such as Microsoft Visio

  • Experience with XML programming

  • A working knowledge of electrical circuit theory and active analog and digital circuit design

  • Familiarity with the Global Positioning System (GPS) and associated receiver user equipment

  • Proficiency in the use of laboratory electronics analysis equipment such as oscilloscopes and digital logic analyzers

  • Strong writing and oratory skills

  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary team

About Our Team:

The Navigation Guidance Control & Sensing (NGC&S) Department 5444, develops and demonstrates next generation flight control systems technologies in support of Integrated Military Systems programs. The department strives to provide leadership to the Laboratory and the Nation through innovation, creativity, rapid development, practical application, and demonstration of NGC&S mod/sim and prototype sensor technologies. Game-changing hardware and software-based technologies are developed, integrated, and tested with the intent of demonstrating achievable and differentiating capabilities that enable the Warfighter and improve the National security posture.

We support the Missile Defense Agency, Army, Navy, and other Department of Defense Agencies; and we also vigorously participate in internally funded Research and Development initiatives. Our applications cover a broad spectrum of different flight applications and routinely require the extensive use of real-time embedded computers and custom real-time software. The NGC&S group is also significantly involved in modeling and simulation activities in support of these same application areas.

Security Clearance:
