About Our Team:

The Engineering Sciences Center continually advances its S&T capabilities to ensure enduring mission relevance and impact. We seek to drive understanding and innovation by integrating theory, computational simulation, and experimental discovery and validation across length and time scales to assess complex physical phenomena and systems for our national security mission. The center stewards a breadth of disciplines for the laboratory including Thermal, Fluid, Aero, and Fire Sciences as well as Structural Dynamics, Shock Physics, and Solid Mechanics. Work in the center spans the RDA spectrum, with fundamental discovery and advanced diagnostics applied to highly integrated full scale physical and computational simulation of engineered systems subjected to extreme environments.

The Explosive Systems and Technologies group provides leading edge training and explosive testing to counter strategic threats. We solve some of the nation’s top energetic challenges with focused research, design and performance validation, cutting-edge predictive modeling, material characterization, effects analysis, high-consequence assessment, and specialized field training. The group operates four explosive test facilities across 913 acres with explosive limits up to 2000 lbs.
